Jordan’s imports of Iraqi oil rose 55% last year

/ The specialized energy platform reported on Wednesday that Jordan’s imports of Iraqi oil during the year 2023 recorded an increase of more than 55% compared to the levels recorded in 2022, which provided a large portion of the Kingdom’s fuel needs.

It indicated that “the quantities of Iraqi crude oil discharged from the site of the modern Kirkuk depot in Iraq into the tanks of the Jordanian Oil Refinery Company in Zarqa amounted during the past year to about 3 million and 813 thousand and 336 barrels, compared to 2.45 million barrels in 2022.”

She continued, “Jordan’s imports of Iraqi oil – which meet about 7% of Jordan’s needs – witnessed an increase of about 1.363 million barrels during 2023.”

The platform noted, “Under the new agreement, the monthly quantity of Iraqi crude oil exported to Jordan increased to about 450,000 barrels per month, instead of 300,000 barrels per month.”

It stated that “Jordan’s imports of oil and its derivatives increased during the year 2022, reaching 1.805 million tons (13.176 million barrels), compared to 1.757 million tons (12.8 million barrels) in 2021.”
