Jorge Lorenzo has spoken again about the signing of Marc Márquez for the Gresini team. About the arrival of Marc Márquez to the Ducati family. The Spaniard, MotoGP world champion, is looking forward to seeing the man from Cervera with the fast Italian bike… but he also has doubts about how his landing may affect the group dynamics.
This is how he expressed himself in an interview in ‘GPOne’: “Not all the managers wanted Marc. It is good news because they have the best rider at zero cost… but it is a problem because not all the Ducati bosses wanted him” .
“Gigi Dall’Igna? He wanted it. He always wants the fastest drivers. But there are a couple of things that are worrying,” says Lorenzo.
Afterwards, he proceeds to explain his words: “Because of your contract, you can lose Marc after just one year… and I will take all the knowledge he is going to acquire.”
“The second is that he can beat both Bagnaia with his official motorcycle and Jorge Martín. He is going to win many races in 2024,” says the Spaniard.
Lorenzo, like Márquez, was also tempted by Ducati when he was on a Japanese bike. In his case, a Yamaha, and therefore he knows what Márquez can find.
“The bike had great power and advanced aerodynamics. I decided to leave Yamaha because I knew it would be the best bike. With me Dall’Igna accelerated that whole process. Now they have gone much further forward,” says Lorenzo.
