jpnn.com – MISANO – Jorge Martin was not surprised by Francesco ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia’s performance in the San Marino MotoGP Practice at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, Misano, Friday (6/9) evening WIB.

Pecco was the fastest in the session that determined the classification of the riders, whether they would get direct access to the main qualification (Q2) or have to struggle in the first qualification (Q1) first.

Martin had to settle for third, enough to go straight into Q2. The top ten riders in practice are entitled to direct access to Q2.

Riders outside the Top 10 must first compete in Qualifying 1 (Q1). The top two in Q1 will advance to Q2. The main qualifiers must have secured at least 12th starting position in both the sprint and race.

“I felt pretty good. Comfortable with my bike, although I had some problems when I tried to use the soft tyre. Especially when braking. When I was sliding in the corners, the bike became very unstable. We then made changes to the bike and things got better,” said Martin as reported by Speedweek.

Many expected the lap record (Jorge Martin’s one minute 30.390 seconds set last year) to be broken yesterday. However, that was not to be.

Pecco was the fastest in practice, recording a time of one minute 30.685 seconds.

“When chasing time like in practice, Pecco or any rider always has something extra,” said Martin.

Today’s San Marino MotoGP features FP2, Q1, Q2, and sprint. Check the schedule here.
