« Falling or Flying », de Jorja Smith

For this new album, Falling or Flying, Jorja Smith could have worked with the biggest producers. Asked for numerous duets, some of which with Stormzy or Burna Boy turned into hits, the English soul singer nevertheless declined their offers.

The interpreter of Blues Lights preferred to work with girls like her from the West Midlands: the Dame Dame duo, two Franco-Congolese women she has known since adolescence. On this record, osmosis is evident. She recounts her transformation, from a candid young girl, dressing like a Betty Boop, to this self-confident woman capable of politely sending her boyfriend for a walk on the sublime What if my heart beats faster ?or nicely flirting with a dancer on the remarkable Little Things.

On this track, the duo of producers recreated the atmosphere of English rave parties where we go from a grime room to a space where the DJ plays drum and bass, house music or R & B. According to Jorja Smith, her transition to her life as a woman is not easy, because it takes place under the public eye. Listening to the introductory piece, Try Meit doesn’t seem to intimidate him that much. St. B.
