Disappeared from radar screens, the Czech Mozart, Josef Myslivecek (1737-1781), also a friend of the original Austrian with whom he maintained a correspondence, was not rediscovered until the beginning of the 20th century. If the instrumental music of this Venetian by adoption gave rise to editions and recordings, this was not the case with the twenty-six lyrical works, of which a large corpus of extracts from seven operas sérias and an oratorio illustrates the film, The Bohemian, which director Petr Vaclav devotes to the composer. The inventiveness of this music, its stylistic eloquence, its twirling dynamism, its dramaturgical impact (to the point that one of his works has been attributed to Mozart) finds under the direction of Luks an interpreter commensurate with an inspiration that draws from the pleasurable sources of lightness and expressiveness. At the head of the distribution, Philippe Jaroussky, whose radiant nobility is adorned with fervor and delicacy. At his side, a beautiful trilogy of sopranos: the freshness of Emöke Barath, drunk with transcendent virtuosity; the sensual and dramatic roundness of Simona Saturova, while Raffaella Milanesi dazzles in the “hit” created at the time by the castrato Marchesi, Be close, it is said. A magnificent album which calls for a lyrical continuation and the rehabilitation of the operas of Josef Myslivecek. Marie Aude Roux

Edith Canat de Chizy
Sound

Works by Edith Canat de Chizy by Karol Mossakowski (organ), Fanny Vicens and Jean-Etienne Sotty (microtonal accordions), Dana Ciocarlie (piano) and Marianne Piketty (violin). Pochette from the album « Suono », by Edith Canat de Chizy. SIGNATURE/RADIOFRANCE

Despite its appearance of patchwork, resulting from the grouping of pieces intended for instruments very far from each other, this monograph by Edith Canat de Chizy (born in 1950) allows us to grasp the composer’s mark quite well. Ambitious piece that is as much experimental fantasy as illusionist poetry, Sound gives the impression that the great organ is looking at itself in the distorting mirrors of a duo of microtonal accordions. Piano solo inspired by the marine element, Sailing brings together five very colorful pieces around a center dedicated to the fog horn. More concentrated but by no means abstract, the Five thumbnails for violin and piano confirm that the art of Edith Canat de Chizy lies above all in the gesture of a painter or a sound artist, as evidenced by Arcanafor two accordions and electronics, a true synthesis of the program.
