A vehicle carrying boxing star Anthony Joshua was involved in a collision, resulting in the tragic deaths of two of his team members and minor injuries to the athlete. The incident, which occured on the Ibadan Expressway, is currently under investigation.
The 36-year-old, of Nigerian origin, was reportedly sitting in the back seat of the vehicle when it collided with a truck. Images circulating online depict Joshua, visibly shaken and shirtless, amidst shattered glass.

According to reports from The Punch newspaper, the accident took place on the Ibadan Expressway. An eyewitness, identified as Adeniyi Orogu, stated that Joshua was traveling in a two-car convoy and seated behind the driver. “The passenger next to the driver and the person sitting next to Joshua died instantly,†Orogu explained.
The deceased have been identified as Sina Gami and Latif Ayodele, described as “close friends and team members†by Orogu. He further stated, “It is indeed with great sadness that it has been confirmed that two close friends and team members, sina Gami and Latif Ayodele, have died in this tragic accident.â€
The accident occurred shortly after Joshua’s recent boxing match against Jake Paul. Joshua was traveling with his entourage when the vehicle collided with a truck along the busy expressway. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation by local authorities.
Joshua’s Condition and Recent Career
Eddie hearn, Joshua’s promoter, revealed he learned of the incident while on a family holiday. “I woke up to the news of this incident,†Hearn told the Daily Mail. He added, “We are trying to communicate with anthony and simultaneously occurring we do not want to speculate about his condition, but fortunately he appears to be fine from what I saw in the pictures.†Joshua sustained minor injuries and is currently receiving treatment.
The accident comes shortly after Joshua’s victory over Jake Paul on February 2nd, a fight held in Miami and broadcast by Netflix with an estimated prize money of $184 million. The bout marked a return to form for the 2012 London Olympics champion and former world heavyweight champion, following a knockout loss to Daniel Dubois in September of last year.
