Journal Frankfurt News – Donations raised for the AHF

For the 26th time, the AHF is collecting donations for its work with the “Run for more time” on Sunday. This year, a total of three projects aimed at queer refugees and young people are to be funded. The charity run leads through the city center.

For the 26th time, runners of all levels can start the “Run for more time” on Sunday afternoon for a good cause. With the charity run, projects of the AHF – Aidshilfe Frankfurt are supported, and everyone from small children to professional runners can take part on routes of different lengths. Depending on the length of the route, the circuit leads through downtown Frankfurt once or twice.

Three AHF projects will be supported this year; because events such as the CSD or the run for more time could not take place at all or only in a reduced form in recent years due to the corona pandemic, the financial situation of the AHF is difficult. As in the past, it is therefore dependent on donations from the run. One of the donations this year is the “Integration*Work” project. Queer refugees are supported on their way into the job market. From help with the right of residence to the recognition of professional qualifications and the search for queer-friendly companies, the AHF accompanies the refugees in their job search and thus also helps them to gain a foothold in society.

In addition, the donations should go to youth education in the queer youth center KUSS41 of the AHF. There, young people are given professional advice on topics such as sexuality, love, safer sex or coming out. Finally, the proceeds from the run are also intended to help finance the queer youth housing groups, in which young people who are rejected by their parents because of their sexual orientation are accommodated. When it was first held in 1996, the “Run for more time” was intended to promote solidarity with people suffering from HIV or AIDS in addition to donations. Today he also stands for tolerance and solidarity with the LSBTIQ* community.

The first starting signal at Opernplatz will be on Sunday at 3.20 p.m. for the 1-kilometer school run for 5 to 13 year olds. The even younger group, from the age of two, can start at 3.40 p.m. in the 300 meter children’s run. Then there is the 5-kilometre circuit through the city centre, which will then be circumnavigated twice in the 10-kilometre run from 5 p.m. The registration deadline for the “run for more time” was already, but if you still want to start spontaneously, you can register later on Saturday (12.30 p.m. – 4 p.m.) and on Sunday up to 30 minutes before the desired run. If you don’t run but still want to donate, you can also “cheer on” the “sponsored runners” financially. Information about the route and donation options can be found here.
