ANKARA. Journalist Tolga Şardan’s question: “What is in the ‘judicial report’ submitted by MİT to the Presidency?” An objection was made regarding his arrest due to his article titled.

In the petition of objection submitted to the Istanbul 1st Criminal Court of Peace by Şardan’s lawyers, Turgut Kazan, Aslı Kazan and Serdar Laçin, it was stated that Şardan was arrested completely unjustly, unlawfully and arbitrarily on November 1.

The following statements were included in the petition:

“He reiterates that the reasons for the arrest are completely unjust and arbitrary. In the investigation, which had no witnesses/victims/uncollected evidence, assuming that the crime regulated in Article 217/A of the TCK was a catalog crime, the suspicion of destroying/concealing evidence and putting pressure on witnesses and victims was mentioned, although it was clear that no one would be prosecuted.” He emphasizes that the arrest order, which states that “there is a suspicion of escape due to the possible punishment to be received”, is against the law and the law, and states that the elements of the crime regulated in Article 217/A cannot be considered to have occurred due to the article in question, and that this injustice should be corrected as soon as possible and the arrest decision will be lifted and our client will be released immediately. We request that the court decide to release him or at least release him by applying the provisions of judicial control, and if your judgeship is of the opposite opinion, the file be sent to the Istanbul Criminal Court of First Instance on Duty, which is responsible for examining the objection, and we present the situation to your discretion.
