Teams from the Spanish LaLiga are known to regularly recruit from South American clubs, as the language barrier often disappears here. However, a player from FC Villarreal could take the reverse path next year and return to his homeland at the same time.

As reported by Mundo Albiceleste, Boca Juniors is showing keen interest in Juan Foyth (26). According to reports, initial discussions with FC Villarreal have already begun, aiming to bring the Argentine home by the summer of 2025 at the latest. Ideally, the right-back would already be part of the squad for the upcoming Club World Cup in the USA.

The player could indeed be open to a transfer. Due to several injuries, Foyth has recently faced a tough time at Villarreal. Ongoing shoulder issues are currently preventing the 2022 World Champion from participating in matches, which is likely to significantly reduce his chances of further appearances in the Spaniard’s jersey.

Barça was rebuffed by Villarreal

However, the Boca Juniors should not view negotiations with Foyth’s club as a stroll in the park. In the past two years, FC Barcelona has already struggled to secure a transfer.

Despite his injury problems, FC Villarreal reportedly demanded 60 million euros for Foyth in the summer of 2023, for example. Barça then pulled out of the transfer negotiations and instead loaned Joao Cancelo (30) from Manchester City for a year.
