Comedian Juanda Caribe Receives Death Threats, Blames Online Gossip Page
A celebrated comedian and content creator, Juanda Caribe, is facing a barrage of death threats after a social media page allegedly published false claims of domestic abuse. The artist, recently recognized at the Luna Awards for his 15-year career, publicly addressed the situation, vehemently denying the accusations and placing responsibility for his safety on the page known as Babaditos Official.
Rising Star Targeted by Online Harassment
Juanda Caribe has become a prominent figure in entertainment, extending beyond stand-up comedy to television appearances on programs like Who is the Mask? and MasterChef Celebrity. His substantial following on social media platforms has further amplified his reach. However, this increased visibility has seemingly made him a target for malicious online activity.
According to Caribe, the current wave of threats stems from unsubstantiated allegations made by Babaditos Official, claiming he had been aggressive toward his partner, Sheila Gandara, with whom he shares a daughter. “Never in my life, 31 years, have I had a single violent scene with a woman,” Caribe stated in an Instagram story. “I was raised by a loving mother, grandmothers and aunts who made me understand the true value of a woman, never in my entire life have I had a physical altercation with a woman.”
Legal Action and Financial Incentive for Information
The comedian asserts that he has previously experienced fabricated stories circulated by Babaditos Official, leading to attacks from users who believe the published information. However, this instance has prompted Caribe to take more drastic measures. He has reportedly filed a legal statement demanding a retraction of the false claims, but alleges the page instead doubled down by republishing the accusations.
In a bold move, Caribe has offered a reward of up to 20 million pesos – approximately $115,000 USD – for information leading to the identification of the individuals behind the Babaditos Official profile. He intends to pursue legal action against them for cyberbullying, libel, and slander. “It is not the first time he has done it and every time he wants he turns me into work clothes, with this he gains followers and sells advertising to companies that in turn profit from the pain of others,” Caribe added.
