Judge Thomas S. Hixson revokes Alejandro Toledo’s bail and orders his commitment to a United States prison

The Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit of California rejected the request of former President Alejandro Toledo Manrique, to suspend his extradition to our country, approved in the first instance by Judge Thomas Hixson.

With which, Toledo Manrique must surrender to justice this Friday, April 7 at 09:00 am

How Toledo Manrique’s defense is known

He had presented up to three appeals in which he indicated that the rules of the Extradition Treaty signed between Peru and the United States were not complied with.

However, the Court determined that there is evidence that Alejandro Toledo received bribes from Odebrecht in exchange for awarding him the tender for the South Interoceanic highway.

“This Court found that the testimonies of Jorge Simoes Barata and Josef Maiman provide probable cause for the crimes of money laundering and collusion,” the ruling reads.

Alejandro Toledo is accused of having received bribes for a total of US$35 million from the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, for the construction of sections II and III of the Interoceanic Highway.
