by times news cr

A group of 820 judges and Circuit magistrates requested the intervention of the United Nations Human Rights Committee (UN) and the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) before the judicial reform.

“We have requested that these international organizations, within the framework of their respective mandates, ask the Mexican State to suspend the legislative process of the Judicial Reform or, where appropriate, suspend its execution,” they indicated.

They pointed out that the constitutional changes are “openly and notoriously in violation of human rights.
recognized both in the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights as in the American Convention on Human Rightswhich are international treaties binding on the Mexican State.”

They considered that in recent days “the attack against the Judiciary, to the point that by depriving it of its independence they will practically make it disappear. This is a breach of the democratic order that translates into a coup d’état.”

They stated that what is at stake is the democratic, legal, political and economic stability of our country. The seriousness and urgency of this situation is clearly demonstrated in the documents we submitted to the aforementioned international organizations, as well as the irreparability of the damage that will inevitably occur with the mere approval of this Reform, which will be multiplied exponentially with its implementation.
