A judicial bailiff is accused of animal abuse by an animal welfare organization during an eviction process of an elderly couple in Petroupoli.
According to the complaint from the animal welfare organization, this particular bailiff abused the dog twice in an attempt to remove the elderly couple from their home in Petroupoli.
As the family’s lawyer, Katerina Fragaki, stated to Open, the family’s house in Petroupoli is their primary residence and was put up for auction for 6,000 euros.
“The house has gone up for auction unfortunately it was lost, the difference in the settlement was just 6,000 euros,” said the lawyer, noting that the family had made an effort and gathered 25,000 euros.
“However, the company insisted that they should receive 31,000 euros, they put the house up for auction,” she said, emphasizing that the elderly man living there with his wife had just undergone heart surgery.
“We achieved an extension,” she highlighted, noting that the company has already arranged for the property to be purchased by a short-term rental company.
“However, in order to force the family out of the house, they abused the family’s dog twice. We don’t know who, but it was certainly someone from the auction. Rat poison was found in the dog’s mouth after the eviction process was halted due to the intervention of neighbors. They took the dog to the vet and found rat poison in its mouth,” the lawyer reported. It is a shepherd, 10 years old, large,” she noted.
