Judo: injured, Teddy Riner is forced to give up the Worlds

by time news

Hope is gone. Injured in the ankle during an internship in Rabat, Morocco at the end of August, Teddy Riner, who was initially supposed to spend three weeks on crutches and wearing a splint, has passed additional examinations which force him to give up the world championships which will take place in Tashkent from October 6th to 13th.

“Alas I was afraid of it, but the medical examinations taken today have confirmed that I will not be able to resume judo for a few weeks, which therefore excludes my participation in the next World Championships in Tashkent”, explained through social networks the triple Olympic champion who has not played in the World Cup since 2017.

“Two years from the Olympic Games, I can’t take any risks. Appointment is made for the next World Championships next May in Qatar”, specified the Frenchman who focuses all his preparation on the Paris Olympics. Ten times world champion, the Frenchman will therefore have to wait before going in search of an eleventh planetary crown.
