Hamburg – He is the founding stone of NDR! On October 20th, cult presenter Carlo von Tiedemann turns 80. In a BILD series, “Carlo unkaputtbar” remembers his eventful life!
Carlo used to never miss a party and celebrated with alcohol to excess. He told BILD: “I stopped all my sins from one day to the next. To this day I don’t know where I got the strength from, but I did. It was faith in myself that helped start a new life and end this devil time. And faith in God and the love of my wife. I didn’t need therapy. Either I die. Or I’ll move on.”

His wife Julia (56), whom he married in Venice in 2012, played an important role. He affectionately calls her “Julchen”. She is the daughter of the former NDR producer Klaus Laubrunn († 80).
Carlo was touched: “I met Julia on a talk show in Timmendorfer Strand and immediately succumbed to the shot. Over time it became more. At some point we moved to Quickborn together. Over time I realized that it wouldn’t work without Julia. I realized that I had never experienced such affection on my part. This became great love, the love of my life.”
Carlo had an eventful love life and has four children (20 to 43) from three women. He was married to two.

The cult presenter has been volunteering for years and has also received awards for it.
He: “I am very proud of the Federal Republic’s Medal of Merit and I stand up for other people who are not doing so well. I am the patron of the day care center for homeless people in Norderstedt and the Sternenbrücke children’s hospice. There is so much misery, it is unimaginable. There are people who have nothing. They are afraid of the next day. It always gave me a lot to talk to people.”

And further: “I hosted a coffin exhibition for children’s coffins and talked to parents who had just lost a child. I can do something like that. This is not a burden for me, but rather a gift. When you come out of there you think: I just overdrawn my account. And a child just died. What worries do I have…”
