The national coach was apparently looking for a villa in Italy and almost found one with real estate mogul René Benko. However, it was apparently too expensive for him.

German national football coach Julian Nagelsmann apparently wanted to buy a villa from Austrian real estate entrepreneur René Benko. This is shown by emails obtained by “Bild” and “Krone.at”.

According to reports, Nagelsmann was specifically interested in a house on Lake Garda. “Hi, I have a question. Are you still selling a house on Lake Garda?”, Bild quotes an email from the national coach to Benko on August 16. Benko then apparently replied: “Yes, we still have two houses for sale in Villa Eden Gardone on Lake Garda. Just get in touch if you want to know more. Best regards, René.”

Nagelsmann is said to have subsequently requested further information. Ultimately, however, the deal fell through. According to “Bild”, people close to Nagelsmann say that the houses were too expensive for the coach. Both available villas apparently cost around ten million euros. According to the report in “Bild”, Nagelsmann had already contacted Benko two years earlier about a house in Kitzbühel. However, Benko was apparently unable to help him.

Nagelmann’s request for the Italian villas came at a time when Benko’s business empire was already in trouble. A few months later, his Signa Holding was insolvent, and bankruptcy proceedings are also underway against Benko.
