Born March 6, 1937 in Central Russia. Dad is the driver. Mom works at the spinning mill. He lost his father at the age of two. Income is not enough. So until the age of 8, Valentina did not have the opportunity to go to school. Then studied. Joined a factory.
Valentina has been interested in flying parachutes since she was a child. He joined and trained at a local aeroclub. 1959 First time jumping from a parachute!
It was a time when the Soviet Union and the United States were eagerly competing for manned spaceflight and space exploration. In 1961, the Soviet Union became the first man to successfully send a man into space. The Soviet Union planned to send women into space, hoping to perform the next feat on their own. Thousands of applications came in from women as soon as the announcement was made. Valentina’s application is one of them.
Five candidates were selected after multi-stage examinations and physical examinations. Suddenly it was announced that only one woman would be sent into space.
Ponomarova was ahead of Valentina in education and physical fitness. But Valentina deserved to be the daughter of a martyr who sacrificed her life for the country. Both were invited for an interview. To the question of what you are going to do after space travel, Ponomaryova does not have the right answer. To the same question Valentina said, “I will continue to work for the country. I will focus on the advancement of women. ”

1963. June 16. 26-year-old Valentina goes into space. ‘Everything is going well,’ he reported by radio signal. Took pictures. She recorded her health change. He did the tests given to him. He crossed 12 lakh miles in 70 hours and 50 minutes and orbited the earth 48 times. Just before the spacecraft reached Earth, he jumped off the parachute and landed safely!
With this, Valentina became the first woman to go into space and became the first person to spend more time in space!
Through this journey of Valentina was able to learn that the female body in parallel with the male in space was able to cope with that environment.
Valentina was given a special welcome in the Red Square in Moscow. At a ceremony at the Kremlin Palace on June 22, he was hailed as the ‘Hero of the Soviet Union’. This is the sixtieth year that Valentina has been in space.
