In a message to Jung Kook’s fans on WeVerse, his label Big Hit Music described “3D” as a Pop R&B track that cleverly expresses feelings towards an unattainable person from the perspectives of first, second, and third dimensions. The label also promised that the song would showcase an even more mature side of the young pop star and that Harlow’s addition would bring zest to the tune.
This isn’t Jung Kook’s first endeavor as a solo artist. In July, he released “Seven,” a song featuring Latto, which topped the charts and reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The release of “Seven” introduced Jung Kook’s solo work to a wider audience outside of BTS.
However, controversy recently arose when a South Korean news outlet alleged that “Seven” resembled Fin.K.L’s song “Time of Mask.” Big Hit Music firmly denied these claims, stating that “Seven” was a collaboration with five overseas composers and had no connection with a song from 24 years ago. The company emphasized that the allegations of plagiarism were baseless and lacked the essential elements for a copyright infringement claim.
Jung Kook recently performed at the Global Citizen Festival, where he included “Seven” in his setlist. He also performed various BTS hits like “Euphoria” and a medley of “Permission to Dance,” “Dynamite,” and “Butter.” Furthermore, he surprised the audience with the first-ever live performance of his solo single “Still With You,” featuring Latto. The performance concluded with a teaser of his newly released single “3D.”
