Jungle camp candidate Winfried Glatzeder reports having “spare parts in his body”. That’s why the actor now has two plastic nets in his stomach.

Will Winfried Glatzeder stir up the jungle camp once again? We’ll see soon. The actor is taking part in the summer version of the RTL show after he fought for the crown once before in 2014 and caused trouble in the camp with his outbursts of anger. In the ten years that have passed since then, however, a lot has changed for the now 79-year-old. He now has “more spare parts in his body”.

“If they burn me one day, I’ll probably be hazardous waste,” jokes Glatzeder in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper. But what exactly is he referring to? “New knee, new lenses, hearing aids,” he lists the procedures and aids that he was and still is dependent on because of health problems.

He continues: “Because of an inguinal hernia, I have two plastic nets in my stomach so that my intestines don’t hang out.” With a hernia, internal organs push through the abdominal wall. To counteract this, a mesh is sometimes surgically inserted to provide stability.

Glatzeder wants to use the RTL TV show to learn more about himself “before it ends”. “The jungle camp is like the Way of St. James, but without all the spiritual stuff,” says the mime. Now he wants to see “whether I can still get through it mentally”.
