Chennai, : In the Junior Badminton ‘League’ tournament which started yesterday in Chennai, the Chettinad Champs team played amazingly on the first day. The Junior Badminton ‘League’ tournament, organized by the Tamil Badminton Association and ‘V Expo India’, started yesterday at the Nehru Sports Arena, Chennai. Three days. In the ongoing tournament, eight teams namely Chennai City Kings, Rockport Rockers, Tiruvallur Veeras, Coimbatore Super Kings, Chettinad Champs, Tirupur Warriors, Kanchi Sparks Ashish, Thanjavur Thalaivas will compete. Doubles and mixed doubles categories will be held. The first day of the tournament, which started yesterday, was inaugurated by Anbumani, Vice President of Badminton Federation of India and President of Tamil Nadu Badminton Association. On the first day till yesterday afternoon, Chettinad Champs – Coimbatore Super Kings teams clashed in five matches. In that, the Coimbatore team won only in the 19-year-old women’s doubles with the score of 2-1. Besides, the Chettinad team won the 17-year-old singles and doubles and the 19-year-old men’s doubles. In the end, they defeated the Coimbatore team with a score of 4-1. Chettinad team registered their first win. The competitions are ongoing.
