Junior Weightlifting: Hashta Champion-Dinamani

New Delhi: India’s Hoshada Sarath won the gold medal at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Greece. This makes her the first Indian to win gold in the competition.

On Monday, the second day of the competition, Hoshada won the women’s 45 kg category, topping the 70 kg category in the snatch category and 83 kg in the clean & joke category with a total weight of 153 kg. Turkey’s Pektas Gansu (150kg) won silver and Moldova’s Hinko Theodora Luminida (149kg) won bronze.

Anjali Patel, another Indian who competed in the same category, lifted 148 kg (67 + 81) and placed 5th. It is noteworthy that 8 teams from India are participating in this competition which will be held till the 11th.

Earlier, Saikom Mirabai Sanu won bronze (2013) and Asinda Shiuli won silver (2021).
