by time news

Drama in the Jura. This Saturday, a man was arrested on suspicion of stabbing a 27-year-old woman and her two-month-old child. The baby was even the victim of a “disembowelment” according to the prosecution of Lons-le-Saunier. The infant, whose vital prognosis is engaged, and his mother, who “presented several wounds without obvious vital risk”, were discovered in the morning by the emergency services. The latter were “called to intervene at the home of a couple in Les Rousses”, a ski resort in the French Jura on the border with Switzerland.

According to a press release from public prosecutor Lionel Pascal, the two victims were airlifted to a hospital in Geneva. “Swiss doctors are struggling to save the baby whose injury, a “disembowelment”, “is particularly serious”, underlined the prosecutor, indicating that the child was “under medical care”.

70 gendarmes and a helicopter mobilized

The first elements collected by the investigators directed suspicion towards a relative of the family whom the latter had been hosting for several weeks and who was no longer there when the help arrived. The father, “left for work in the morning”, is not suspected, said the prosecutor.

“A blatant investigation of the counts of attempted murder and attempted aggravated murder” was entrusted to the Jura gendarmerie group and the Besançon research section. The search launched to find this man involving 70 gendarmes and a helicopter, led to his arrest in the middle of the afternoon. The suspect, unknown to justice, was taken into custody, according to the magistrate. We do not yet know the exact link that the man had with the couple.
