Jürgen Klopp Hints at Retirement from Coaching While Keeping Future Possibilities Open

by time news

Jürgen Klopp hinted at his retirement as a football head coach in the short to medium term during statements made at the International Coaches Congress held in Berlin, Germany.

“From today on, it’s over for me as a coach. I haven’t left out of whim, but it has been a general decision. I have also coached the best clubs in the world.

“Perhaps, we can talk about it again in a few months. I still want to work in football and help people with my experience and my contacts,” said Jürgen Klopp, leaving the door slightly open to professional football.

“At this moment, there is absolutely nothing in terms of jobs. There is no club, no country.

“Some people may not have heard this part, and it would be the biggest loss of prestige in the history of football if I said: ‘I will make an exception for you now’,” the German strategist indicated regarding the possibility of replacing Gareth Southgate as the England national team manager.

However, despite his statements, he also implied that he does not yet feel old enough to “dedicate myself only to paddle tennis and grandchildren. Will I be a coach again? For now, I rule that out,” said Jürgen Klopp at the International Coaches Congress in his country.
