“If she wins, it will be a miracle – not because I don’t believe in her, but because we have no connections. As far as I’m concerned, she won, I’ll be shocked. If she wins, you’ll call me and I’ll tell you, I need to take a pill,” Segalit told Rosh Ha’Ain Maint.
Have you heard the song Libi will perform tonight?
“She surprised me that she was going to perform the song she performed at the age of 13, about the second song I don’t know. I didn’t hear her sing that song. Libby didn’t rehearse here so that we wouldn’t influence our opinions. She did the rehearsals in a neutral place, she did them at Friends. Because we raised her in the framework of music – we were always involved, she knows what my opinions are but I told her that I don’t want to influence, I ask not to be shared.”
“She may want to sing a certain song and I have different tastes, different opinions, it affects me. I want her to do what she thinks is right for her. I asked her not to interfere and not to play the rehearsals for me, on my part at my mother’s, so that I would not influence her. She built it alone.”
24-year-old Libby Panker, half Indian and half Tasmanian, has been singing since the age of 4 with her mother, who at the time used to write the songs. “She would learn the tunes by heart, she was my play, every song I would write and compose I would put her next to me, she has an excellent reception,” said Emma Segalit to mynet. After that she participated in the program “Music School” and at the age of 13 she represented Israel in the children’s Eurovision and won 9th place.
She studied at Eshkol elementary school and majored in music, playing the clarinet. In high school she majored in theater and music. “Usually they do one extension, she promised them she would do both and it hurt her a little socially. She gave up on balloons a little, this is her compromise. I was not involved in it,” said her mother.
She comes to the next star program already ripe and already at the beginning she won the outstanding audition of the season and produced a new music video for the song “The flower in my garden”. Among her unforgettable performances was in the special episode of Omar Adam performing the song “In the end everything passes”, and “Siliha” by Mati Caspi.
Libby’s family is also involved in art. Her mother Segalit Panker sang at events in Rosh Ha’Ain and even performed quite a few duets with her daughter. Her sister Paz dabbles in painting and music like her father and Shahar paints and studies medicine.
Which performance of Libby did you like the most during the show?
“The song ‘Siliha’. I also loved Omar Adam’s song – ‘In the end everything passes’, it really touched me. ‘Siliha’ is the song – and another one in the month of Elul. A difficult song that is not easy to perform, it is a song that moved me then and still today. The wal she did is Indian – she is half Indian.”
If Libby doesn’t win, who is your favorite contestant?
What do you say about the other contestants?
“Meitav was with me many times, we know all three of them. They are amazing – good and talented children. Two of them studied grenades with Livi – Eliav and Meitav. Nufia and Livi were together in a military band in the Education Corps.”
Emma said that Libby was always a mature girl, not superficial or withdrawn: “She has a character problem, either to her detriment or to her advantage, she gives a platform to others – she is so confident in herself and has high self-worth and she knows who she is, she can give Go be the first. When I see her on Instagram, I see how she connects everyone, she doesn’t have a competitive nature, she doesn’t threaten, that’s her beauty. I thank God that I have such a girl – she knows how to give a platform to others without fear.”
“Libby has been writing since she was young. She has her first song that she is working on and she will release it when she feels that it is time – that she is ripe. For me, she won. I am going to the finals today with a calm heart, it is enough for me to see her sing. Whatever happens.”
