Justice orders removal of 161 more Twitter accounts

by time news

The Ministry of Justice and Public Security reported, on Sunday night (9), that it asked Twitter to remove 161 more accounts from the platform that used hashtags related to the recent attacks on schools registered in Brazil.

Hashtags are keywords or terms associated with information or discussion that you want to explicitly index in applications such as Twitter and Facebook, preceded by the hash symbol (#).

In addition, Minister Flavio Dino highlighted that TikTok was asked to remove an account that was sharing content that incited fear in the population.

The requests were made within the scope of the Safe School Operation, which has the participation of police stations against cybercrime in the main Brazilian regions, which will act in line with the strategies of the Ministry of Justice.

Earlier, the folder led by Dino requested the deletion of 270 Twitter accounts that carried hashtags related to attacks against schools. The ministry reported that both content and authors are under investigation. Search warrants were also fulfilled, resulting in the seizure of seven weapons. A suspect was arrested.

This Monday (10), a meeting is scheduled with representatives of social networks to align an action protocol. According to public safety specialists, many young people are recruited by these networks, which have become a kind of “shop window” for extremist groups that promote hate speech.
