The Punta Arenas Court of Appeals declared admissible the protection resources presented by the President Carlos Ibáñez Sports Club against the ANFP for declaring Huachipato the winner in their Copa Chile match.
The First Chamber of the Court of Appeal accepted for processing the actions “against the ANFP that suspended the match that was to be played at the Fiscal Stadium in Punta Arenas, on Sunday, June 30, between the recurring football club and the Huachipato squad, for adverse weather conditions”.
The appellate court also granted the requested no-innovation order, leaving without effect, while the merits of the appeal are resolved, the resolution that declared Huachipato the winner and eliminated the Magallanes club from the Copa Chile.
The ANFP justified the elimination of Presidente Ibáñez and granting Huachipato passage to the next round, stating that the match could not be played due to weather conditions and that the Punta Arenas team did not want to give up home advantage.
The amateur team responded that they invested more than 10 million pesos to provide the necessary conditions to play the match, in addition to accusing that the Talcahuano team did not even travel to the area to play the match.
