Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and delegation stranded in New Delhi due to technical issues with aircraft

New Delhi, September 11 – The Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his delegation are currently stranded in New Delhi due to technical issues with their aircraft. The delegation was supposed to depart from Delhi after attending the G20 summit on Sunday.

In an e-mailed statement to PTI, the Canadian Prime Minister’s office informed that the Canadian Armed Forces are working tirelessly to bring the delegation back home. The latest update indicates that the earliest possible departure for Trudeau and his delegation is scheduled for Tuesday late afternoon.

“We will keep you updated regularly as the situation evolves. The situation remains fluid,” Press Secretary Mohammad Hussain stated in the e-mail.

Trudeau, who arrived in the Indian capital on Friday, was originally scheduled to return on Sunday following the conclusion of the G20 Summit. However, technical issues with the aircraft, identified as CFC001, have delayed their departure.

“These issues are not fixable overnight, our delegation will be staying in India until alternate arrangements are made,” CTV News channel quoted a statement from Trudeau’s office.

Efforts are underway to resolve the technical issues with the aircraft, and a ferry aircraft is expected to land at the Delhi airport at around 10 pm on Monday to bring the stranded delegation back home.

The Canadian Prime Minister’s office expressed its gratitude for the continuous efforts of the Canadian Armed Forces and reassured that updates will be provided as the situation progresses.
