Dusan Vlahovic scored twice to lead Juventus to a 3-0 win over host Verona in the second round of the Italian League, sending Thiago Motta’s team to the top of the competition.
Juventus continued their strong start under Motta, as the team started the season with a win over newly promoted Como.
The “Old Lady” became the only team to win its first two matches in the league this season, to take the lead alone with 6 points.
Juventus have failed to win any of their last 8 away matches in the league.
Serbian striker Vlahovic opened the scoring for Juventus in the 28th minute when he fired a powerful low shot from inside the penalty area into the net, his first goal in the league since April 19.
Defender Nicolo Savona added the team’s second goal with a header, placing the ball into the far corner of the goal, taking advantage of a pass from Samuel Mbangula.
Thus, Savona (21 years old), who was promoted from the second team in Juventus, made his first participation in the starting lineup of the first team.
Vlahovic then added his second goal and the team’s third from a penalty kick in the second half, which the referee awarded due to Mbangula being obstructed.
Juventus have won their first two league games of the season for the first time since the 2019-20 season.
