In a pre-season friendly, Juventus was defeated on Friday by Nurnberg from Germany, with a score of 3-0. The goals for the team managed by Miroslav Klose, the all-time leading scorer in World Cups, were scored by Janisch, Forkel, and Jander. The match took place at the Max-Morlock-Stadion, home of the German team. The duel marked the debut of coach Thiago Motta at the helm of the Old Lady.
Still missing the players who participated in the American Cup and European Championship, Juventus went into the match with a mixed team. The only regular starter was Italian midfielder Manuel Locatelli, who served as the team captain.
In the second half, Thiago Motta made substitutions, including bringing on Serbian forward Dusan Vlahovic. In the 27th minute, the 24-year-old player missed a penalty when Juve was trailing 1-0.
The next friendly for the Italian team is next Saturday (03) against Brest from France, at 4 PM (Brasilia time). Juventus’ first official match of the season is on August 19, Monday, in the opening round of the Italian Championship, against Como, in Turin.
