Former Member of Parliament Sunil Handunnetti has said that if the People’s Liberation Front-led government comes to power, it will seek financial assistance through Sri Lankans living abroad.
Meanwhile, Handunnetti said Sri Lankans living in Canada had promised to provide $ 1 million to the ruling government led by the People’s Liberation Front.
He made this revelation while addressing the Matara District Conference of the People’s Liberation Front.
He further said,
The dollar thus provided is not required to be repaid for up to four years. Interest payable after four years will not be expected.
There are many Sri Lankans around the world who have donated dollars to help the People’s Liberation Front-led government.
Addressing a gathering, its leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake had said that if the People’s Liberation Front (PLF) seized power in the country, Sunil Handunnetti would be given the responsibility of finance minister of that government.
