Compensation package for K Rail’s Silver Line project is ready. Those who have lost their homes will be given compensation and Rs 4.60 lakh or compensation and a house in Life model. The poorest families who lose their homes and become landless will be given compensation, 5 cents of land and a house in the Life model. Or compensation and 5 cents land and Rs 4 lakh, or compensation of Rs 10 lakh. Rs 30,000 will be allotted to tenants who lose their accommodation.

Compensation and Rs 50,000 will be given to those who lose commercial establishments. Two lakhs will be given to the commercial establishments operating in the rented building. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the land to be acquired will be quadrupled in rural areas and doubled in urban areas. The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting of civic dignitaries convened in Thiruvananthapuram to clear doubts about the Silver Line project, a semi-high speed railway. He said the land acquisition would be completed in two years.

Eligible candidates from the families affected by the scheme will be given priority in the assignments under the scheme. For those who have lost their business establishment, priority will be given to allotting shop room in commercial establishments manufactured by K Rail.

A sum of Rs 13,265 crore has been earmarked for the Silver Line project. Compensation of Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 50,000 will be given for demolition of cattle shed.

Workers in evacuated commercial establishments will be paid Rs 6,000 per month for 6 months. Box shops will be compensated between Rs 25,000 and Rs 50,000. Those who trade outside will be paid Rs 5,000 per month for 6 months in addition to the cost of the make-up. Those who lose their self-employment will be given Rs 50,000.
