Kochi: The anti-K Rail People’s Committee protested by burning DPR against the state’s Silver Line project. The DPR was set on fire by a group of locals in front of their houses at 7 last night. The protesters also decided to remove all the survey stones laid for the project within ten days.
DPRs were set up in every house by people from all over the area where the government was planning to acquire land for the K rail to cross. The protest was led by the Anti-Rail Committee. The demand is that the project should not be implemented as it causes major environmental problems and many people lose their beds. Thousands of families in the project area from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod took part in the night protest.
K Rail officials have already planted survey stones at several places. The protesters have decided to uproot most of these and the K Rail Committee will uproot the rest within 10 days.
