The first look poster of Mammootty and Jyothika’s film Kathal – The Core has been released. The first look poster of the film has a picture of Mammootty and Jyothika sitting in front of a house. The film is directed by Jio Baby. Right from the time of its announcement, the film has garnered a lot of attention. Kathal The Core also has the distinction of being the third film of Mammootty’s film production company Mammootty Company. The shooting of the film started on October 20. The shooting of the film is progressing.
Dulquer Salmaan’s Wayfarer Films has taken over the distribution of the film. Mammootty’s look from the film was released the other day. Mammootty plays the role of Mathew Devasi, a leftist candidate in the film. The picture of the flex board of the left independent candidate contesting in the panchayat elections came out the other day. Kaathal The Core also has the distinction of being Mammootty and Jyothika’s first film together.

Kathal is a film produced by Mammootty’s company after Roshaak and Lijo Jose Pellissery’s Nanpakal Nerath Mayakkum, which continues to run in theatres. The shooting of Kathil started in Kochi on October 20 and will be shot in Thodupuzha and other locations among other schedules. Mammootty is coming up with the film after the films Jio Baby Freedom Fight and Shree Dhanya Caterings, who won the state award for The Great Indian Kitchen. Kathal is also a film made with a bigger budget than the regular Jio Baby films.
Kathal is Jyothika’s third Malayalam film in her career. After the 2009 film Sita Kalyanam, Kathal is also the Tamil actor’s comeback in Malayalam. Jyothika is coming to Malayalam after last year’s OTT release of the movie Sanadipirappe. Apart from Mammootty and Jyothika, the film also stars Lalu Alex, Muthumani, Sudhi Kozhikode, Chinnu Chandini, Anagha Aku, Adarsh Sukumaran and Josie Sijo in other important roles.
The film is written by Adarsh Sukumaran and Paulson Scaria. Salu K Thomas handles the camera. Alina’s lyrics will be composed by Mathews Pulikan. Editing by Francis Lewis.
