Kabul: A powerful bomb exploded at a mosque in the Afghan capital, Kabul. More than 50 people were killed in the blaze. It is feared the death toll could rise further.
Friday prayers were held at the Khalifa Sahib Mosque in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a crowd of Muslims. Official reports say 10 people have been killed in a powerful bomb blast. According to reports, the bodies of more than 30 people are in the hospital and the death toll has crossed 50.
Syed Basil Aga, the head of the mosque, said of the incident: Fortunately, I survived but lost many of my relatives. ‘ Recovery work is ongoing. It is feared the death toll could rise further. No group has so far claimed responsibility for the blast.
