Perinthalmanna: The Kadareli Trophy football tournament, which is being organized by the Kadareli Sports Club, will be held abroad this time as well. The tournament will be held on February 15 and 16 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Perinthalmanna NRI 16 teams will participate in the tournament organized in collaboration with Forum Jeddah. These are teams sponsored by various companies in Jeddah. Kerala football players will also play in many teams. The tournament will also be held in Jeddah as part of the 51st Cathedral Tournament held at Perinthalmanna by the club.
The overseas tournament is held to raise funds for the club’s philanthropic activities. Last year, for the first time, the Cathedral Club held the tournament in Dubai. Pachiri Farooq, general secretary of the club, said that the competition is being held in Jeddah as a continuation of this. The club has introduced a free ambulance service for palliative patients. In addition, the club is also running projects such as providing monthly assistance of one thousand rupees to 30 patients of the Perinthalmanna municipality. The entire proceeds of this year’s Cathedral Football Tournament held at the Perinthalmanna Nehru Stadium were earmarked for charity.
