JAKARTA, Waspada.co.id – General Chair of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) DPP, Kaesang Pangarep, responded briefly to the discourse about him running in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Gubernatorial Election (Pilgub). He has not yet confirmed whether he will run or not in the contest.
“You’ll see,” said Kaesang when met after the halal bihalal event at the Golkar Party DPP office, Slipi, West Jakarta, Monday (15/4) evening.
He was asked again about his chances of running as a candidate for Governor of Jakarta. The youngest son of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) only answered briefly. “What do you want,” said Kaesang briefly.
Previously, PSI claimed that the residents of DKI Jakarta no longer wanted former Governor Anies Rasyid Baswedan to rule. This claim is based on Anies’ vote achievement in the 2024 Presidential Election (Pilpres) in Jakarta, which he lost against Prabowo Subianto.
Chairman of the PSI DPP, William Aditya Sarana, said Anies was the antithesis of President Joko Widodo. Meanwhile, Jakarta residents still want to be led by someone who has understanding like Jokowi.
According to him, this is a sign that the majority of DKI Jakarta residents no longer want to be led by Anies. On the other hand, there is a longing among residents for the Jakarta government under Jokowi’s leadership.
“So we see that there is a kind of longing, yes, for us to return to the era of Pak Jokowi’s administration as Governor of DKI Jakarta,” said William. He also said that Kaesang represented Jokowi’s leadership to run for the 2024 DKI gubernatorial election. (wol/republika/mrz/d2)
