The goalkeeper of Krasnaya Zvezda from Sovetsk Alexander Shishmarev died after being injured during a friendly match of amateur teams against the Baltika-M club. The Kaliningrad Regional Football Federation reported that he collided with another football player.
“The help, promptly and fully provided by the Baltika doctors, did not help. The arriving ambulance brigade fought for Alexander’s life for an hour, but they failed to save him, ”the regional federation VKontakte said in a statement.
The Russian national team expressed their condolences.
