The incident of suicide of Sri Mathi, a student of Periyanesalur village, Cuddalore district, who was studying in the 12th standard at Sakthi Matric Higher Secondary School in Kaniyamoor near Chinnasalem, Kallakurichi district, has caused shockwaves.

Alleging that such incidents happen frequently in that school, the relatives of the student should take action against the school management and teachers. They protested saying that the school should be sealed. Violence erupted during the protest demanding justice for the student’s death. The protesters ransacked the school. Student seats of the school were vandalized and some items were carried away by the protesters. Property including school buses were set on fire by the protesters. Due to this, the school cannot function.

Meanwhile, School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi conducted an inspection at the affected school. Alternative arrangements for students studying in the school were also discussed. After that, Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi, who met the media, said, “It has been decided to conduct online classes for all the students with the teachers who have worked in the school. He announced that these classes will be held from July 27 (today).

Accordingly, online classes will start from today for school students affected by Kallakurichi. Also, it is planned to conduct live classes for students studying from 9th to Plus 2nd. For this, some private schools in the vicinity of the school have been consulted. Minister Anbil Mahesh Poiyamozhi has also said that on their agreement, these classes are also planned to be taught there temporarily with the same school teachers.
