Kollam: Minister V Sivankutty has directed the director of public education to conduct an inquiry into the presentation of the welcome song at the school arts festival and submit a report within a week.
The part referred to in the Kalotsava song is not the stand of the Left Democratic Front government. Mata Perampra, who performed the welcome song, is under consideration to be removed from the programs of the Education Department. Each section of the school festival is managed by teachers’ associations. The welcome song was screened by a committee. But Minister Sivankutty clarified that the screening was not done in stage dress.
The Minister said that some people are just trying to create controversy on account of Kalotsava food. The reactions from some quarters crucifying Mohanan Namboothiri, an old man with a great career record, is unfortunate. Kalothsavam is a festival of diversity. The Department of Public Education has clarified its position in this regard. Those who are still hanging on to this issue have a definite agenda. Minister V Sivankutty also pointed out that Kerala has a secular mind to realize this agenda.
