The Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States, Kamala Harrishas raised $540 million in just over a month since she launched her race for the White House, with a wave of donations pouring in during the National Congress of Democrats in Chicago.

A memo released by Harris campaign manager Jen O’Malley Dillon said the $540 million raised included $82 million that flowed in during the week of the convention, a sign of Democrats’ enthusiasm for her candidacy.

“This is the largest amount ever raised by any presidential campaign in that time period,” he said.

The candidacy of Harris, who was officially nominated at the convention but had already been accepted by Joe Biden on July 21, has created momentum that has brought Donald Trump on the defensive while he struggles to keep the media’s attention on him.

Harris and vice-presidential candidate Tim Walsh are kicking off their campaign for the White House this week on a bus tour of Georgia, seeking to drum up support in a swing state in the Nov. 5 election.
