Kamala Harris has chosen Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her vice presidential candidate in anticipation of the presidential elections on November 5, according to U.S. media reports.

According to Reuters, citing sources, Kamala Harris has not yet called Walz to inform him.

As per the schedule, Harris and her vice presidential candidate will hold a joint rally in Philadelphia in the evening. After the event in Philadelphia on Tuesday, a series of campaigns will follow in Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona, before concluding her campaign in Las Vegas, Nevada, on August 10.

60-year-old Tim Walz is a veteran of the U.S. Army National Guard and a former teacher. In November 2006, he was elected as a member of the U.S. House of Representatives with the Democratic Party, where he served for 12 years before being elected governor of Minnesota in 2018. As governor, he promoted a progressive agenda that included, among other things, free school lunches, climate change goals, tax cuts for the middle class, and more.

Harris Officially a Candidate

It is noted that Harris is now officially the Democratic nominee for the presidential elections and will face Donald Trump in the fall after securing the Democratic presidential nomination. Kamala became the first Black woman to lead a major party ticket.

The daughter of immigrants who rose through the political ranks of California and law enforcement to become the first woman vice president in U.S. history, officially secured the Democratic presidential nomination on Monday – and became the first woman of color to lead a major party ticket, as reported early Tuesday (Greece time) by The Associated Press.
