However, from her marriage to Doug Emhoff (59), the current Vice President has two adult stepchildren – Cole (29) and Ella Emhoff (25). Who is Ella Emhoff?
The daughter of Douglas Emhoff and his first wife, film producer Kerstin Emhoff (57), grew up in California. Her parents separated in 2008. Six years later, her father married the then Attorney General of California, Kamala Harris. Her stepchildren affectionately call her “Momala.”
After high school, Ella Emhoff studied textile design at the Parsons School of Design in New York City. Since then, she has been living in the Brooklyn neighborhood of New York City, specifically in Bushwick, and is humorously referred to as “The First Daughter of Bushwick.” Upon her graduation in May 2021, Kamala Harris shared a joint photo of the two on Instagram and wrote: “Congratulations to our daughter Ella on her graduation. I am so proud of you. Keep dreaming big, and there is nothing you can’t achieve. With love, Momala.”
Who is Ella Emhoff’s boyfriend?
Emhoff designs and knits colorful clothing and accessories, selling them through her Instagram account. She has over 320,000 followers there. She is celebrated for her unconventional, natural style – Emhoff has numerous distinctive tattoos, wears little makeup, and does not shave her underarm hair. For several years, Emhoff has been in a relationship with “GQ” editor Sam Hine.
Ella Emhoff made her first public appearance in front of a large audience at the Democratic National Convention in August 2020, where she gave a speech in support of her stepmother as a candidate for the vice presidency. She declared her to be “the best stepmother in the world” at that time.
Emhoff garnered further attention at the inauguration of U.S. President Joe Biden (81) and Kamala Harris in January 2021. The now 25-year-old made a splash in a checked Miu Miu outfit and John Lennon glasses. A few days later, she signed a modeling contract with IMG Models. Since then, she has modeled for brands such as Prada and Balenciaga. In May 2021, she made her debut at the Met Gala in New York. “Harper’s Bazaar” included Emhoff in its “Icons of the Year” in 2022.
Ella Emhoff Supports Kamala Harris Again
Even now, as Kamala Harris is likely to be the Democratic candidate for the presidential elections in November 2024, she can again count on the support of her stepdaughter.
Two days later, Emhoff shared a selfie in her story and urged her followers with a link to register to vote. “Now is not the time to sit back and shirk responsibility,” she wrote. “It’s up to all of us to show up, take action, and vote for our future. We can be the change we want to see.”
