The Kanda Shashti festival has kicked off in the Ramanathapuram area, marking the beginning of a week-long celebration at various Murugan temples. The festival started with the construction of the roof at the temples, and devotees gathered to participate in the festivities.

Abhishekam, Anukna, Vinayagar Puja, and Deeparathan ceremonies were conducted at the Ramanathapuram Gundukarai Swaminatha Swami, Kumaraiah Temple, and Sivasubramanya Swami Renabali Murugan Temple in Peruwayal village. The devotees also began the Shashti Vrat by making a cover, signifying the beginning of their devotional observance.

As part of the ongoing celebrations, Abhishekam and decorative Deeparathan will be performed daily in the inner prakaram, allowing devotees to engage in prayer and ritualistic practices at the temples. The main events of the festival, Surasamharam on November 18 evening and Thirukalyanam on November 19 morning, are greatly anticipated by the community.

The Ramanathapuram Lahvidhu Murugan Temple, North Street Balasubramanya Swamy Temple, Valli at Muttala Parameshwari Temple, and Deivanai Sametha Kalyana Murugan Shrine are among the temples where the festival commenced with the backup. The ceremony saw the participation of a large number of devotees, who came together to celebrate and seek the blessings of Lord Murugan.
