Prosecutors Seek 3 Million Won Fine… Mr. Park “Public Interest Purpose”
The first trial verdict for YouTuber ‘Taldeoksu Concentration Camp’, who is accused of defaming singer Kang Daniel, will be announced on the 11th.
Judge Lee Jun-goo of the 18th Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court will hold a sentencing hearing for Mr. Park, who was indicted on charges of violating the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection (defamation).
Mr. Park is accused of damaging Kang Daniel’s reputation by uploading a false video titled ‘The messy private life of the nation’s boyfriend, actor idol’ on the YouTube channel ‘Taldeoksuyongso’.
Taldeoksuyongso is a YouTube channel that produces videos based on malicious rumors about idols. The channel has now been deleted.
At the sentencing hearing held last month, the prosecution requested the court to sentence Park to a fine of 3 million won.
In his final statement, Park claimed, “It was not my intention to defame the victims.” Regarding the claim that his actions were for the public good, he explained, “Burning Sun has been problematic, and the idea of Seungri being associated with it is not good news in itself,” and “I think I thought it was necessary to make it known for the public good, given that he is an idol who is loved by the public.”
