Emergency is a film in which Kangana Ranaut plays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The story, direction and production of the film, which is set in the Emergency period, is handled by Kangana. Bollywood actor Anupam Kher, who plays the lead role in the film, has shared his experience with Kangana.

He said Kangana is an impossible director. “I recently worked on a film with Kangana. She is a great director. Every now and then Kangana will whisper some suggestion in my ear, which will surprise me,” said Anupam Kher in an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan. Kangana’s response to Anupam Kher’s words is, “Always kind and gracious”.

Kangana’s story for the film is written by Ritesh Shah. ‘Emergency’ is produced by Kangana and Renu Pitti under Manikarnika Films banner. Kangana’s makeover as Indira Gandhi in the film was noticed. This is the second film directed by Kangana. Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi, released in 2019, was the first film directed by Kangana herself in the title role.

However, there are reports that the majority of the film was directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, and Kangana replaced him at the end with her own name. Kangana’s removal of scenes including Sonu Sood from the film was also controversial. The big budget film was a financial failure.
