Kangin, formerly of the group Super Junior, took a profile photo for the first time in 10 years and sounded the signal for the resumption of activities.
On the 29th, Kangin uploaded a video titled ‘Profile photo shoot after 10 years’ on his YouTube channel.
Kangin met with the YouTube production crew and said, “The reason I called you today is because I was worried that if I just showed you guys eating sundae soup in an alley every day, you would think I’m easy.”
He then said, “Today is the day of my profile photo shoot, so I thought it would be nice to show this side of me (to my subscribers). Thank you for coming.”
After filming began, when the production team complimented him, saying, “You’re so cool. You look like an actor,” Kangin recalled his past, saying, “You’re not like an actor. I used to be an actor, too.”
When the production team asked, “How do you feel about doing (profile photos) after such a long time?” Kangin said, “It’s awkward to do it alone. I didn’t do it alone in the past,” talking about his days as a group member. He then added, “It’s easier to go out to eat noodles. It’s awkward because it’s been 10 years since I’ve done it.”
After filming, Kang In monitored the photos and expressed his satisfaction, saying, “There were so many photos I liked earlier. I think my family will like them if they see them.”
Meanwhile, Kangin was embroiled in controversy in 2009 after getting into an altercation with a pedestrian while drinking, and in October of that year, he was fined 8 million won for hit-and-run while driving under the influence, and suspended his activities. After completing his military service, he returned in 2012 with Super Junior’s 6th full-length album “Sexy, Free and Single,” but in 2016, he caused an accident while driving under the influence in Sinsa-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, and was fined 7 million won.
Kangin left Super Junior in 2019 due to various rumors, but renewed his contract with SM Entertainment last year. He said, “I feel embarrassed, but I think there are fans who are curious, so I want to give you an update on what I’ve been up to.”
In addition, in May of this year, Kangin launched the communication platform Dear You Bubble service and began communicating with fans in earnest. Also, all the members of Super Junior, including Kangin, attended Super Junior’s Ryeowook’s wedding that was held in the same month. Leeteuk, who hosted the wedding, said, “You are seeing Kangin who has spent more time reflecting than promoting,” and “I ask that you forgive Kangin.
