Kangwon National University,under the leadership of President Jeong Jae-yeon and Software Centered University Project Director Lim hyun-seung,formalized an agreement with Duzon ICT Group,represented by Vice President Yoon Seong-tae,on Thursday,October 17th,at duzon’s Gangchon Campus. The partnership seeks to create a self-sustaining ecosystem for nurturing specialized talent and bolstering the digital industry within the region.
Addressing the Skills Gap in AI and Cloud Computing
The core objective of this agreement is to establish a robust cooperative framework centered around Kangwon National University’s SW contract track system. This initiative will focus on cultivating talent specifically in the artificial intelligence (AI) field, with the ultimate goal of driving innovation and growth in the digital industry. The collaboration will extend beyond education, encompassing joint research endeavors and community engagement.
According to a senior official involved in the project, the partnership will prioritize several key areas: designing and implementing curricula tailored to the specific needs of Duzon ICT Group; seamlessly integrating educational training with recruitment opportunities for local AI and SW talent; fostering collaborative research projects in AI and SW; and exploring avenues for contributing to the broader local community.

The 2025 KNU SW Contract Track System: A Model for Industry-Academia Collaboration
A cornerstone of this partnership is the joint operation of the ‘2025 KNU SW Contract Track System,’ a six-week internship program scheduled for October and November of next year. This program is designed to create a virtuous cycle of industry-academia cooperation, linking company-specific training, non-curricular projects, internships, and ultimately, full-time employment opportunities.
Thirty students – from the Departments of Computer Engineering, AI Convergence, and Digital Military – will participate in the immersive internship. Moreover, sixteen staff members from Duzon ICT Group’s subsidiaries – Duzon Bizon, Keycom, and Duzon B&C – will provide on-site training at the Duzon Gangchon Campus, preparing prospective employees for roles within the group.
Pro tip: – The 2025 KNU SW Contract Track System will offer a six-week internship program. Thirty students will participate, with training provided by Duzon ICT Group staff. The program aims to create a cycle of industry-academia cooperation,leading to employment opportunities.
Government Support and Long-Term Investment
This initiative is bolstered by meaningful government funding. Kangwon National University was recently re-selected for the ‘2025 SW-centered university project,’ backed by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Institute of Facts and dialog Planning and Evaluation (IITP). This selection secures 11 billion won in funding for the university through 2030, enabling continued investment in educational innovation within the SW and AI fields.
