Jaipur: Two years ago, a murder in Rajasthan caused a sensation across the country. Although murder incidents come to light many times, the Kanhaiyalal murder case on 28 June 2022 shook the entire country. Terrorist organizations were involved in this murder. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) investigated the case in which two youths from Pakistan were also held guilty. The NIA had filed a chargesheet against a total of 11 accused, including two Pakistani nationals. Since two accused are from Pakistan. Hence, they could not be arrested. The remaining 9 accused were arrested by the NIA and sent to jail. One accused was released on bail on 1 September 2023 last year and another accused got bail from the High Court on 5 September 2024. With the release of two accused, this murder case has once again become fresh in the minds of the people.

Kanhaiyalal Sahu’s throat was slit in broad daylight
On 28 June 2022, two people murdered Kanhaiya Lal Sahu, who ran a tailoring shop, by slitting his throat in broad daylight. Both the men reached the shop with sharp weapons hidden in their clothes. They talked to Kanhaiya Lal for a few minutes about sewing clothes and then suddenly took out a big sharp iron weapon and attacked his neck. Before Kanhaiya Lal could recover, he was attacked repeatedly due to which he fell on the ground bleeding. After committing this gruesome murder, both the killers escaped on a bike.
A video of the murder was made, and a video was made immediately after the murder
Both the accused made a live video of the murder on their mobile and uploaded it on social media. A few minutes after the murder, they made another video in which they were proud of their act and shouting the slogan ‘Sir Tan Se Juda’. This video was also uploaded on social media. Both these videos went viral on social media in a few minutes and reached across the country and abroad. Whoever saw these videos, kept condemning this heinous murder.
Both the killers were caught three to four hours after the murder
After the murder incident, a high alert was issued in the entire state. Police of all the districts of the state were alerted to arrest the murderers. Blockades were put on the main roads of all the districts and help was also sought from the common people. Since the video of the murderers had reached thousands of people, the murderers could be easily identified. The murderers were fleeing through Rajsamand on a bike. During this time, two brothers were sitting on the roadside in Rajsamand. When they saw two people riding a bike going fast, they called the police. Looking suspicious, the police requested both the brothers to follow the suspicious people on the bike. Both the brothers kept following them on their bike and the mobile was on while talking to the police officer. The police came to know the location and put up a strict blockade ahead. As soon as the bike riders were seen suspicious, the police caught both of them. The names of the two killers who were caught were Mohammad Riyaz and Gaus Mohammad. Both also confessed to committing the murder.
If terrorist link is found then investigation is given to NIA
Udaipur police started investigating the case. Initial investigation revealed that Pakistan was involved in this incident. Due to the involvement of terrorist organizations, the investigation of the case was handed over to NIA. Even after the investigation was handed over to NIA, the local police helped fully in arresting the accused who helped in the murder. NIA held a total of 11 people guilty in its investigation, including two Pakistani persons. Apart from the two Pakistani accused, the remaining 9 accused were arrested by NIA. These included Gaus Mohammad, Mohammad Riyaz Attari, Mohsin, Asif, Mohammad Mohsin, Wasim Ali, Farhad Mohammad Sheikh alias Babla, Mohammad Javed and Muslim Mohammad. NIA also filed a charge sheet against two Pakistani citizens Salman and Abu Ibrahim, but they could not be arrested.
Two absconding, two on bail, 7 in jail
In the Kanhaiyalal murder case, the NIA had filed a challan against a total of 11 people, considering them guilty. Out of these, 9 accused were arrested, including Gaus Mohammad, Mohammad Riyaz Attari, Mohsin, Asif, Mohammad Mohsin, Wasim Ali, Farhad Mohammad Sheikh alias Babla, Mohammad Javed and Muslim Mohammad. Out of the 11 accused, two accused, Pakistani residents Salman and Abu Ibrahim, are absconding. Out of the remaining 9, one accused Farhad Mohammad alias Babla got bail on September 1 last year. The second accused Mohammad Javed got bail on September 5, 2024. The remaining 7 accused Gaus Mohammad, Mohammad Riyaz Attari, Mohsin, Asif, Mohammad Mohsin, Wasim Ali and Muslim Mohammad are in jail.
Dotasara accused the BJP government of protecting the accused
After the second accused in the Kanhaiyalal murder case got bail, Congress state president Govind Singh Dotasara has made a big allegation against the BJP government. Dotasara said that Rajasthan Police was investigating this murder case but the NIA took over the case. The central agency made a weak plea due to which the second accused also got bail. Dotasara tweeted that we cannot forget that day of June 28, 2022, when Kanhaiya Lal ji was brutally murdered in Udaipur in the fire of hatred. The BJP government may be protecting the accused but they are standing strongly with the family of late Kanhaiyalal ji in the fight for justice. Dotasara asked the central government that 26 months have passed, when will Kanhaiya Lal ji get justice.
