Kannur: Anyone will be surprised to hear about a cycle trip to London? But Faiz Ashraf continues to travel with his bicycle journey even as those who listen put their fingers in their noses. The journey was flagged off by Minister V. Sivankutty from Thiruvananthapuram on the last Independence Day. As part of India’s 75th Independence Day celebrations, Azadika Amyat Mahotsav, Fais is crossing two continents on his cycle with the support of Rotary International under the leadership of Team Eco Wheelers with the message that the countries of the world should work in mutual love.
Flagging off the journey, Minister V. Shivankutty said that this yatra will become a great event that will strengthen adventure and brotherhood. Faiz is a member of Sun Rise Club of Calicut Rotary. Faiz will travel 30,000 km through 35 countries and reach London in 450 days. Faiz, who was a Viproi employee, resigned from his job and took up this great initiative.

Sir Ladies Trucker Cycle by American Company. Emirate First Dubai company is the supporting sponsor of the trip, as they do not get visas in Pakistan and China, those countries are excluded from the trip. Faiz said that he will travel from Thiruvananthapuram to Mumbai by bicycle and reach Oman by air and from there he will pass through UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Iran, Georgia and Turkey and then return to Europe.
In 2019, he traveled from Kozhikode to Singapore. Nepal, Bhutan, Myanmar, Thailand. He reached Singapore by cycling 8000 kilometers via Malaysia for 104 days. Hailing from Kozhikode Thala Kulathur, Faiz is the son of late Ashraf and Fauzia. Dr. Azmin Fais is the wife: Fazeen Umer and Lisin Nahlum are the children. Faiz entered Kannur district and was welcomed by Kannur Cycling Club, Kannur and Thalassery.
