Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes on Travis Kelce’s relationship with Taylor Swift: ‘It hasn’t become a distraction’

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes approves of teammate Travis Kelce’s relationship with singer Taylor Swift. While Swift’s presence at Chiefs games has created a massive influx of attention, Mahomes insists that it hasn’t become a distraction in the locker room.

In an interview with ESPN, Mahomes stated, “I don’t think it feels any different. People see the whole Taylor Swift and Travis [relationship] and they make it a huge deal because it is a huge deal. I think it becomes a bigger deal to the fan bases than it does to the guys that are actually in the building.”

Mahomes also discussed how close his family is with the Kelces, referring to Travis as his “brother.” He noted that he has met Swift and seen what a good person she is, adding, “I think you can understand why it’s not become a distraction or anything like that because everybody cares about being the best they can be every day.”

Following the Chiefs’ bye week, Kelce’s relationship with Swift was thrust back into the spotlight after he traveled to Argentina to see her open her international dates on her Eras Tour. Now, as the Chiefs gear up for a Super Bowl rematch against the Philadelphia Eagles, the team is focused on football.

Mahomes described the upcoming Monday night game as having “as close to a Super Bowl-type feel that you can have,” and emphasized the importance of seeing how the team responds under the lights.

While there was hope that Swift would attend the game at GEHA Field, her postponed concert in Brazil from Saturday is now scheduled for Monday. Nevertheless, “Swifties” have joined the rabid Kansas City fan base in supporting Kelce and the Chiefs as they strive to move to 8-2 on the year with a win.
